How do I search for products?

You can select and search in any of the following categories:


This can be done by selecting the required field in the search box and then typing the specified details. If you require a more detailed search this is available by clicking "ADVANCED SEARCH". In this section you could for example search by Film Director or Genre.

Advanced searching tips:

  1. Try to be precise. By default, text matching is performed strictly. This means that to search for the album In the spotlight with Madonna, just searching for the word spotlight will find Spotlight on Bee Gees but it won't find the Madonna title. However, searching for In the spotlight will find it. Choosing Flexible text matching will find all titles that contain the word Spotlight, not just starting with it.
  2. When choosing what keyword(s) to search on, avoid common words such as 'a', 'the', 'and' etc.
  3. Searching is case-insensitive, so to match 'Queen' you can use 'queen' or 'QUEEN'.
  4. You can use the barcode or Catalogue number fields to match with part of a number where the last digits are unknown, but not if the first digits are unknown.
  5. When searching for an artist by strict text matching, note that artists are stored as surname, first name(s). Therefore, 'Jarre' will find Jarre, Jean Michel but 'Jean' will not, unless flexible text matching is chosen.
  6. If searching for an actor/actress, use 'First name, Surname' format, i.e. to find films starring Charlton Heston you would enter 'Heston, Charlton' or just 'Heston'.

How do I place an order?

  1. Navigate around the web site and add products to your basket (click on the "BUY NOW" button located adjacent to the product).
  2. As you add products to your basket they will appear in your basket - located in the middle left of your screen.
  3. Once all your required items have been added to your basket, click on the "GO TO CHECKOUT" icon - located at the bottom of your basket.
  4. If you haven't already registered or logged-in, it will prompt you to do so now.
  5. You will now be asked to enter a delivery address, but only if you haven't already stored this information in your account.
  6. Once you have done this, click on the "CONTINUE" button - located in the bottom centre of the screen.
  7. You will now be asked to enter your payment details. If you have previously stored your payment details, this section will automatically default to your first stored card.
  8. Once you have done this, click on the "CONTINUE" button located in the bottom centre of the screen.
  9. A summary of the order will now be displayed for you to check that all the details are correct.
  10. If you need to amend anything, click the "BACK" button at the bottom of the screen.
  11. If all details are correct click the "CONFIRM ORDER" button at the bottom of the screen.
  12. The website will now check stock availability and confirm stock allocation/ordering as appropriate.
    Your order has now been placed.

How much does postage and packaging cost and where do you deliver to?

Postage and packaging is FREE on all items. At present we are only able to accept orders from the United Kingdom, however we hope to add further destinations soon.

Who do you use for your deliveries and how long does delivery take?

All consignments are sent FREE of charge by UK Royal Mail, with in-stock items being despatched within 24 - 48 hours. Due to size and cost, some products may be sent recorded delivery via courier.

If an item is out of stock it is ordered from our suppliers same day and is despatched as soon as it comes into stock. It is always possible an item will be out of stock or otherwise unavailable from our suppliers, in which case the despatch of the item will be affected by its availability from our suppliers.

Delivery should be within 48hrs from the date of despatch, however Royal Mail delays can sometimes affect delivery times. Because of this we are unable to start tracing lost packets until 14 days have elapsed since the date of despatch. Please contact us if you haven't received your item after this time so we may investigate further. If an item proves to be lost in the post we will always send a replacement free of charge.

Do you take full payment in advance?

Powerplaydirect.com are committed to providing the most advanced online security features and therefore we provide the Verified by Visa service FREE of charge. This added security will mean that full payment will be taken when you confirm your order. If you don't sign up for this added security, we will only charge your card when each product is ready to be despatched. For example, if you ordered two products one of which was out of stock, we would charge you for the first item when it was ready to despatch and the remaining item only when it had come into stock and was also ready to despatch.


When will you charge my card?

We will only charge your card once we are ready to despatch your items, unless you have signed up for Verified by Visa with your bank in which case your card wil lbe charged when your order is confirmed.

How do I track my order?

How do I chase up my order?

If you are unable to track your order on-line or have an questions regarding your order please contact our Customer Service Team.

What happens if I order an item that is not in stock?

If an item is out of stock when you place your order, it will automatically be entered into our purchase ordering system. Our purchasing team process orders on a daily basis and items are normally received within 2-5 working days from our suppliers.

However, some items may not be received within this time frame due to stock availability issues or items being withdrawn or deleted by the distributor. Should this occur, we will endevour to update you as soon as possible.

What happens if I pre-order a title?

When you pre-order any item we will automatically reserve it for you; it will be allocated to your order automatically as soon as it comes in to stock. It will be despatched to you within 24 hours of arriving into stock.

Please note:

We shall endeavour to deliver pre-booked titles on the day of release, however are unable to guarantee this service due to any unforseen circumstances that are beyond our control.

How do I cancel an order?

An order may be cancelled at any point prior to it entering our picking/packing cycle. To cancel any item, click the button shown next to it in the My Account -> Outstanding Orders section. Any item you cancel will be listed in your Order History as 'Cancelled'.
