Cookies are small pieces of information transmitted between the web server and your browser. There is nothing sinister about them, they are merely plain-text files.
There are two flavours of cookies. Permanent cookies are received by your web browser and stored on your computer's hard disk, while session cookies are stored only in memory and are lost once you close the browser window.
The Powerplay website uses the session cookie facility of your browser to keep track of you as you browse the site and is necessary to log-in and for the shopping basket facility to function. It is used only for the duration of your visit to the website and is not permanently stored.
